My CAT experience

My CAT pretty much started the way it should not have. 10 minutes gone and not a single answer marked!!!! After this i decided to take a 2 minute break, relax and continue....it`s good that i did this, coz i would have potentially screwed what now seems a good enough performance!!....I used to write last years CAT papers at home and used to get insane scores. For instance i took the CAT 2006 paper scored 231/300. I came to know that the highest in this paper was 186. I felt that given this kind of form i would surely crack the cat. Well, i realized writing a cat paper@home or some simcat is very different from actually writing it on the C-DAY!!! The pressure is absolutely unbelievable.!!! It is immense!! Combined with all that the CAT 2007 paper was really tricky!!!
But at the end i think god helped me through the paper.
My scores technically read
QA - 45 (According to the institutes this should fetch me 99+. I could have easily scored 10 more.Absolutely foolish mistakes!!!)
DI - 53 (Stupid Stupid Stupid mistakes in at least 3 questions. Should have scored at least 70. As it stands now i`ll be in for about 97-98+)
VA - 16 - 47 (Thats right...thats how the huge variation is. Lets just wait for the IIM`s)
OA - 114 - 145 (Could have easily had 20 more!!.. .. As it now stands i have about 99.3 - 99.9 percentile range. If i get 20 plus in VA should at least get 3-4 calls. Institutes have predicted cutoff for at least 1 call as 100).

Well, November 18th was not my best performance. It was definitely not my 100%. But i hope it`s good enough. Now i can understand the plight of sports persons when they are faced with such pressures. I have realized why no one breached the 200 mark last year.
I`ll be really surprised if anyone does so this year!!.....But i have learnt a thing. CAT is not just an aptitude test, it`s also about how u feel at that time. Also i guess VA is a bit of a lottery and u definitely need luck to go with aptitude!! Till Jan 5th keeping my fingers crossed, but internally i do feel confident!!! I`m sure God is with me!! I`ll just say "I believe, I believe , I believe ".

The day before the big one!!

Well 17th November, 2007 14.51pm. Less than 24 hours before the CAT.
There are a few butterflies in the stomach, but largely....i remain confident of doing well....cause there isn`t any reason why i should not... I have faith...and i believe god is with me. Tomorrow at 10.30 am i could change my life. Well don't wanna put too much pressure on myself...but i believe i can do it. I`m gonna relax and calm my nerves for the rest of the day.... and i suggest anyone taking the exam tomorow do the same!!! All the best...may the best win!!

C-Day Approaching

Well.. we`re just about 72 hours from the C-day....and at this stage there`s no point in stressing ureself....just try n relax.... the last few days have been real good. I`ve secured 99.8 in the last simcat....clearing all cutoffs comfortably....most satisfying however was my verbal percentile of 95+. Just wanna repeat this in the cat!!!
It`s the final frontier...the last lap before the big race.....a big race it is with reportedly 2.5lakh + students...but....i seriously believe i can make it....i believe i`m good enough....A positive attitude is just whats required...picture success and ure gonna get it....As they say 'If u believe in ureself...god believes in u' ...so believe in ureself. Picture success and ure bound to do well...Well what we need to do is that make those 150 minutes enjoyable....Inspired by Chak De,i say " Agar tum un 150 minutes mein apna sabse behter pradarsan karo to khuda bhi tumse weh pal nahin cheen sakta "
So guys i say believe in ureself, trust ureself n nothing will be impossible!!!Counting down to the magical 150 minutes!!!
